‘There Will Be a Day’: An Upcoming Children’s Book About Grief, Faith, and Hope

There Will Be a Day, an upcoming children’s book about loss, grief, faith and hope, by first-time Sudanese-American author Sara Gabralla, is set to be officially released on 6 May 2025.

The book, written in English, tells the touching story of a family’s journey through loss and faith, centered around a little boy named Yasin, who had to leave his family twice. First, a brain injury took him to a place where he could no longer talk or play, and then, 18 months later, he said goodbye forever. Yet, There Will Be a Day is not just about sadness — it is also about hope. The family believes that Yasin is now in a beautiful place called heaven, where he is healthy and happy, and they hold onto the belief that they will be reunited with him one day.

The story is based on true events from the author’s life. Sara tragically lost her son Yasin to a brain injury on 5 April 2022 and later to death on 5 October 2023, at just four years old. She channels her personal journey of grief and healing into her debut book, aiming to offer solace and hope to other bereaved mothers and families, especially children who have lost a sibling. In addition to Yasin, Sara is also a mother to a three-year-old and a one-year-old.

‘I’ve always dreamt of writing my own book but I never thought it would be about grief and Yasin’s loss. This book is written to help both parents/caregivers and children to cope with grief and different kinds of losses in the best way and with as little damage as possible,’ said Sara.

Sara is a 33-year-old former public relations (PR) consultant based in the US. Prior to authorship, Sara worked as a freelance writer and holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a certificate in Middle Eastern Studies. Her profound personal narrative and professional background blend to create a compelling and compassionate voice.

‘I truly wish that There Will Be a Day is going to be a useful tool for those dealing with complex feelings of loss, sadness and despair. Especially the young ones. I aim for it to be a beacon of hope for those who are going through the different phases of grief which a lot of times it could be described as a rollercoaster of emotions. I also advise getting the help needed to get by similar traumatic life changing events with ease, whether it is a close family member/friend or professional help from a therapist,’ said Sara.

‘The message of this book is that it is okay to acknowledge your loss and understand it as well as deal with it gradually. It is also essential to remember that this loss is temporary and those who are grieving dear ones will eventually reunite with them in Jannah (paradise) when Allah decrees it,’ said Sara.

There Will Be a Day will be available from 6 May on Amazon.com and different branches of Barnes and Noble bookstores.
