British-Sudanese singer Elmiene released his full EP, For The Deported, a six-track project that honours his Sudanese heritage through both music and lyrics, on 6 December 2024.
The EP opens with “The Deported”, which he released with a video on YouTube on 27 November 2024 with the caption saying, ‘Sudan is the reason I’m here right now. Sudan is the reason I feel like I am as musical as I am or I was so inclined to poetry. I feel like Sudan is a country with a lot of history and tragedy and emotions and feelings and a really, really deep cultural history. And I don’t know. I feel like there’s nothing like the words that we use to describe those complex things.’
For The Deported is Elmiene’s fourth EP and is produced by Dan Wilson, Jim-E Stack, Buddy Ross, Jamie Woon and John Fellner. The six-track EP, includes the tracks “Open Light”, “Grave News”, “Avalon”, “Promise Me A Rose” and “Golden”, and sees Elmiene embrace his Sudanese heritage both musically and lyrically, drawing from his homeland, Sudan, and turned beautiful poems to songs have.
