Sudan Architecture Forum, in partnership with Docomomo Sudan and Sudan Artists Fund, opens submissions for ‘ Modern Sudan’, an annual competition dedicated to portraying modern Sudanese architecture.
Participants are invited to submit a photograph, or as a series of photographs (maximum 5) dedicated to highlighting an aspect of modernity in the built environment that was conceived between 1800s – 1980s. This may include architectural details, a single structure, or a collection of buildings in any place in Sudan. Participants are encouraged to consider specific elements within the chosen building, the surroundings context, and the experience and interaction of people within these buildings.
The submissions should be accompanied with a short statement of 50-200 words that supports the photograph submission. Each photograph must includes a caption that states the date, location and the medium used. The text may be submitted either in Arabic, English or both.
The jury for this competition is composed of Ahmed Alaeldin Abuskakeema, Khalid Albaih, Mohieldin Gamal, Yasmin Hamad and Zainab Gaafar. They will assess the submissions based on the chosen subject and how it is depicted.
The winning submission shall be awarded the June 2022 winner of the Sudan Artists Find the amounts to USD500.
All photographs have to be 300 dpi resolution.
The application deadline is 11:59 pm (Sudan time), 15 May 2022.
