Sudan Reports 7th COVID-19 Case

The Ministry of Health announced a new COVID-19 case on Tuesday, 31 March 2020, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sudan to seven.

According to the Ministry, the 7th case is a man in his 60s who returned from the UAE on 14 March 2020. The patient is now receiving medical care at an isolation center in Khartoum.
Health authorities are currently investigating who had contact with the patient.
On March 23, the Sudanese government declared a partial curfew in all cities nationwide in a bid to prevent the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
In an attempt to stop the spread of the COVID-19, a curfew from 6 pm (previously 8 pm) to 6 am has been enforced in Sudan since 24 March 2020. Any local long-distance bus trips have stopped across the country since 26 March 2020. Bus trips to and from Egypt have also been suspended.
In addition, the government closed kindergartens, religious schools, universities and schools for one month and banned public gatherings.
Travel to and from Sudan through Khartoum International Airport has been restricted. Sudan has stopped visa issuance and flight services to eight countries, including Egypt and Italy.
World Health Organization (WHO) has listed Sudan as a risk for a pandemic spread due to a lack of preparatory procedures and health facilities.
