Sudan Architecture Forum (SAF) has launched al-hila hilatna competition by inviting participants to choose a neighbourhood in Sudan to rehabilitate, which is an opportunity for generating ideas for developing neighbourhoods around the country. It is an opportunity for designers to show their talent and get exposure, and potentially execute their design.
The participants are invited to choose a neighbourhood of their choice in Sudan. This could be a place they think is in much need of the intervention, it could be a space they frequent a lot, a space that inspires them or even the neighbourhood in which they live in. The boundaries for the neighbourhood should not be more than 10 blocks.

Participants are encouraged to be bold, daring and spearheading creative thinking in how they approach the brief. There is no limit but the limits of the imagination of the designer. The design should consider the multiple users of the public spaces, urban fixtures, waste management, safety, the environment, the rain season, and the feasibility of executing this design.
At least one member of the team has to be in Sudan or able to visit the site once.
The first prize is USD1,000 and the best 10 designs will be exhibited at Downtown Gallery in Sudan.
