Sudan Mourns the Loss of Singer Mohammed Faisal Al Jazzar
Popular singer Mohammed Faisal Al Jazzar, better known as Al Jazzar, passed away on Tuesday, 13 May 2025 in Souma’a, Al Gedaref State, following a sudden illness.
The news of his passing was announced on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 14 May.
Al Jazzar is best known for his hits Ya Zol (2018), Makashifi Alqawm (Visions of the People, 2017), and Alqalb Alba’atu (The Heart Sent, 2013). Recognised for his distinctive contemporary sound, he blends traditional Sudanese music with R&B and hip-hop influences. A former member of Sudan’s first boy band, Sudanese Band, which disbanded years ago, Al Jazzar went on to build a successful solo career, collaborating with prominent Sudanese artists such as Afrah Esam and Mahmoud Abdelaziz, famously known as Al Hoot.
His popularity and talent have also led to appearances in major TV commercials for leading Sudanese companies like Sudani, part of the Sudatel Group, and to exclusive interviews on both local and international platforms, including Sudania 24 (S24) and Al Arabiya.
Al Jazzar married in 2013 and is survived by his wife and 12-year-old daughter, whom he frequently featured on his social media. He even released a special song titled Galat Baba (She Said Baba) to celebrate her birth.
He was laid to rest on the morning of 14 May in Souma’a, Al Gedaref State, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues.
