Sudan Reports 117 New COVID-19 Cases; 10,417 Total Cases and 659 Deaths

The Federal Ministry of Health has reported 117 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths on 10 July 2020, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Sudan to 10,417 and the total number of deaths to 659.

The ministry also reported 176 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,579.

As of 8 June 2020, Sudan is no longer under lockdown and easing coronavirus lockdown measures.

According to the ministry, out of the 117 newly reported cases, 61 are from Khartoum, 27 from the River Nile, 11 from Ash Shamaliyah, eight from West Kordofan, five from El Gezira, four from Kassala, and one from the Red Sea. The two newly reported deaths are from Khartoum.

Out of the total 10,417 positive cases in Sudan, 7,495 are from Khartoum, 1,024 from El Gezira, 254 from El Gadarif, 249 from the River Nile, 203 from the Red Sea, 195 from Sennar, 186 from North Kordofan, 165 from the White Nile, 149 from Kassala, 143 from North Darfur, 142 from Ash Shamaliyah, 71 from West Kordofan, 38 from South Darfur, 33 from West Darfur, 29 from the Blue Nile, 21 from East Darfur, 14 from South Kordofan and five from Central Darfur. As of 9 May, all of Sudan’s 18 states have reported COVID-19 cases.

The ministry stressed the importance of citizens committing to and applying preventive measures and reporting suspected cases. To answer all questions related to COVID-19, a government-sponsored call centre has been established for all residents of Sudan, operating 24/7. Call centre: 221 or 9090.
