The Federal Ministry of Health has recorded two new cases of COVID-19 in Sudan on Saturday, 11 April 2020, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 19.

One of the patients is a Sudanese man in his 40s living in Omdurman. The second patient is a Sudanese woman in her 30s living in Um Bada, Khartoum. The two patients do not have history of recent travel nor contact or association with current confirmed cases. Health authorities are investigating who came into contact with the two patients.
They are currently in quarantine and being treated in Jabra Hospital. With 88 beds, Jabra Hospital is receiving all COVID-19 cases including suspected, confirmed and severe cases that require ICU admission. The hospital also includes an isolation room. Two of the 19 COVID-19 patients in Sudan have died.
According to the ministry, there are at least 268 suspected cases of COVID-19 in Sudan.
According to Reuters, the Minister of Health Dr Akram Al Toum said that Sudan urgently needs USD120 million to fight the spread of COVID-19, due to a shortage of the equipment to fight the pandemic.
On Friday, 10 April 2020, South Sudan reported a fourth COVID-19 case. The patient is an adult and a contact of the first patient. The case is a local transmission, similar to the third patient. Health authorities are currently tracing the fourth patient’s contacts.
The Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan has launched a website covid19sd.info dedicated to sharing statistics and latest information on COVID-19 cases in Sudan.
