In collaboration with Mad Paris, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, are hosting Sudanese jewelry designer and and interior design engineer Nisreen Kuku to the Jewellers School for classes, and a guided tour by their historians at the Museum of Decorative Arts Ambassade de France au Soudan and at Musée du Louvre for the Pharaohs of the World exhibit.

Kuku is a jewelry artist and interior decorator, owner of Kuku Gallery in Khartoum. It focuses on producing jewelry inspired by Sudan’s culture, heritage and history.

Born and raised in Omdurman, Kuku graduated from Omdurman Ahlia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 2002. From an early age, she started collecting antique jewelry from Souq Omdurman and prominent antique sellers, which became the inspiration for her work. Kuku’s jewelry is inspired from Sudanese culture, heritage, and history. Kuku’s gallery has participated in various cultural exhibitions and research projects across the world, which helped in identifying Sudan’s diverse heritage and cultural traditions.

Founded in 2012 with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE shares the jewelry culture to a large and varied audience, both in France and abroad. L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts offers the public the opportunity to discover the savoir-faire of jewelry-making, gemology and the history of jewelry through a range of introductory courses, talks, exhibitions and publications, both in Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai – its three permanent sites – and in the rest of the world with traveling events. Open to all, L’ÉCOLE’s mission is to share jewelry culture with the widest possible audience. In Paris L’ÉCOLE is located on Place Vendôme, where the spirit of jewelry is in the air, in an 18th-century mansion which embodies the French artistic tradition. The international vocation of the school leads it to travel all around the world to share jewelry knowledge, where it meets an ever increasingly diverse audience. L’ÉCOLE’s entrance is located at 31 rue Danielle Casanova in Paris.
