Sudan Reports 113 New COVID-19 Cases; 10,527 Total Cases and 668 Deaths

The Federal Ministry of Health has reported 113 new COVID-19 cases and nine new deaths on 11 July 2020, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Sudan to 10,527 and the total number of deaths to 668.

The ministry also reported 22 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,601.

As of 8 June 2020, Sudan is no longer under lockdown and easing coronavirus lockdown measures.

According to the ministry, out of the 113 newly reported cases, 90 are from Khartoum, 13 from the Red Sea, seven from El Gezira, one from Sennar, one from the River Nile and one from El Gadarif. Out of the nine newly reported, three are from the River Nile, two from Kassala, one from Sennar, one from Ash Shamaliyah, one from North Darfur and one from El Gadarif.

Out of the total 10,527 positive cases in Sudan, 7,585 are from Khartoum, 1,031 from El Gezira, 255 from El Gadarif, 250 from the River Nile, 216 from the Red Sea, 196 from Sennar, 186 from North Kordofan, 165 from the White Nile, 149 from Kassala, 144 from North Darfur, 142 from Ash Shamaliyah, 67 from West Kordofan, 38 from South Darfur, 33 from West Darfur, 29 from the Blue Nile, 21 from East Darfur, 14 from South Kordofan and six from Central Darfur. As of 9 May, all of Sudan’s 18 states have reported COVID-19 cases.

The ministry stressed the importance of citizens committing to and applying preventive measures and reporting suspected cases. To answer all questions related to COVID-19, a government-sponsored call centre has been established for all residents of Sudan, operating 24/7. Call centre: 221 or 9090.
