Sudan Reports Two New COVID-19 Cases; 32 Total Cases and 5 Deaths

The Federal Ministry of Health has reported two new COVID-19 cases and one new death on Tuesday, 14 April 2020, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Sudan to 32. The total number of deaths has risen to five.

أكدت التقارير الوبائية لوزارة الصحة الاتحادية تسجيل حالتين جديدتين للإصابة بفيروس كورونا المستجد بالإضافة إلى حالة وفاة واحدة جديدة ليرتفع عدد الحالات المؤكدة إلى 32 حالة

The ministry has also reported three new recoveries who have left quarantine in Jabra Hospital. There are currently 24 patients in quarantine, receiving treatment.

On Monday, 13 April 2020, the Minister of Culture and Information, Faisal Mohamed Saleh, has announced a complete lockdown for three weeks in the capital city of Khartoum, starting Saturday, 18 April. Majority of the private and public sectors are closed for three weeks with the exception of those in the healthcare, and food and beverage sectors.

There is currently a curfew from 6 am to 6 pm. All schools, universities and other educational institutions have closed since last month. Public gatherings have also been banned.

The Federal Ministry of Health recently launched a website covid19sd.info dedicated to sharing statistics and latest information on COVID-19 cases in Sudan.
