Sudan Mourns the Loss of Sheikh Noreen Mohamed Sadeeq

On Friday, 6 November 2020, Sheikh Noreen Mohamed Sadeeq passed away in a car accident along with other students as they were returning from da’wah, which is a call to bring believers, individuals and communities to faith and God, in North Sudan.

Many took to social media to mourn his loss including the Head of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, and the Deputy Head of the Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti). The hashtag شيخ_نورين_في_ذمة_الله# has been trending since the news of his death broke out.

Dubbed as the ‘Heart Soother’ and ‘Soul Soother’, Sheikh Noreen was loved by many in Sudan as well as Muslims around the world for his much-admired recitation of the Quran during prayers. Every year, during the holy month of Ramadan, his melodious Quran recitation is widely praised and shared on social media.

His recitations of the Quran can be found on YouTube, SoundCloud and other platforms.
