Sudanese and South Sudanese Beauty and Fashion Bloggers You Should Follow

The world of beauty and fashion is fast-growing in Sudan and South Sudan. With their celebratory cultures with various occasions to dress up for throughout the year, the countries are witnessing a growing number of Sudanese and South Sudanese beauty and fashion bloggers. The new wave of beauty and fashion bloggers are quite the rage on social media platforms especially Instagram.

If you don’t already, here are some Sudanese and South Sudanese beauty and fashion bloggers you should follow:

Amna Hamadto

Born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Sudan, Hamadto is a makeup artist, fashion designer and founder of Amna’s Wardrobe, a modest fashion line for women in Sudan. On her social media channels, Hamadto shares her personal experiments with beauty routines, and beauty and fashion products.

CleoTurbana

Known as CleoTurbana, Sara Elsayed is a Sudanese fashion enthusiast, challenging cultural style forms. The fashion and beauty blogger based between the UK, KSA and Egypt. The turban connoisseur shares her various conservative, eclectic fashion looks with her +31,000 followers on Instagram. Elsayed is one of the women in the viral picture of six women, including Asma Elbadawi, Yassmin Abdel-Magied and Sahar Koje, who dressed in white teyab to celebrate #WhiteMarch in solidarity with female protesters in Sudan during International Women’s Month.

Along with beauty blogger Nyma Tang, Nyajal has been featured in Essence’s ’11 African Beauty Bloggers You Should Absolutely Be Following‘.

Nyma Tang 

Nyma Tang is an American-South Sudanese beauty vlogger based in Texas, USA. With her short, punchy makeup tutorial videos, she explores which makeup brands have shades that will work for the darkest skin tones. Tang has over one million YouTube followers. Some of her videos have reached over two million views. Beauty vlogger launched her YouTube series The Darkest Shade, where she tests the darkest version of any given brand’s products to see if they are complementary to a real black woman’s skin. She’s been featured on BuzzFeed, Essence, Refinery29, Bustle, The New York Times and many more. In 2018, MAC Cosmetics collaborated with Tang to launch MAC x Nyma Tang lipstick, a limited-edition warm red shade for both fair- and dark-skinned women.

Sahar Arrayeh is a British-Sudanese beauty and fashion stylist and photographer based in Sudan. Sahar Koje

Sahar Koje is a British-Sudanese model and beauty and fashion blogger based in Manchester, the UK. In addition to bringing awareness to the Sudan uprising, Koje uses her platform to take her followers on her fashion and travel adventures. Shahd Batal is a Sudanese-American beauty and fashion blogger and YouTuber based in Los Angeles, California. Batal started her career on YouTube, first blogging about styling her natural hair and now detailing her makeup adventures as a hijab-wearing woman. With over 260,000 Instagram followers and over 226,000 YouTube subscribers, Batal has become one of the most popular beauty vloggers with features on Vogue, Teen Vogue, PopSugar, Refinery29, Allure Magazine, Elite Daily and more.

Shahd Khidir

Shahd Khidir is a Sudanese-American beauty influencer based in New York City, USA. With her nearly 100,000 followers on social media, Khidir shares her adventures and experiences with beauty, lifestyle, fashion, travel and cars. In addition, she reviews products and recommends favourites. Khidir made headlines on CNN, Teen Vogue, Paper Magazine and more in June 2019 when she used her Instagram to talk about the Sudan revolution and asked her followers to pay attention to the revolution after the massacre on 3 June, when government forces raided a mass peaceful sit-in in Khartoum, killing at least 120 people and injuring more than 300. One of those killed was her friend, Mohamed Mattar, whose death inspired the #BlueforSudan hashtag.
